I am again satisfied...

Post by brandon002 » Thu Dec 02, 2004 3:29 pm

Picked up my 91 GTI last night and I'm stoked. No more cushy B3 for me. I'll post pics soon.. It's a Montana Green 8 valve with ton of goodies on it. Mostly suspension/brake work.

Judging by the 10K dollars or so worth of receipts I highly doubt there will be any surprises. I drove it back from Youngstown Ohio last night without so much as a hiccup out of the car. Drove like a champ the entire time. No oil leaks or anything.

Actually Dylan, this one is from New York. I met the guy in Ohio to swap cars. I'm loving this car. I have never driven an MKII GTI before, what a driver's car this thing is. You can toss it around corners like nobody's business. I can't stop hooking corners at outrageous speeds.

What exactly are g60 fender flares? Sweet car btw. If i was to get another vw, id go with an Mk2. But alas, the orgasmic rumble of 8 cylinders with straight pipes awaits the gravy.......

They are called G60 because they have g60 molded into the back

And because they came on the G60 golf over the pond. They are the wider fender flares originally found on 91 & 92 16v GTi's in the US.And they break down a lot if they're not taken care of... hence their name -d.

The fronts are a lot wider then the stock flares, the rears are the same I believe.

rears are technically different, but sucha small difference that you can't really notice. Fronts, as you said, are significantly wider than "normal" big bumper flares.-d.

This is all sorts of off topic... but:

AKA - Rallye Golf? If so... why was I thinking the compressor was smaller in those... a 'g40'? (Your right, i googled it... im just wonder where this g40 idea came from)

No... the rallye had totally different body panels (box fenders)... the G60 flares were on the "regular" g60 golfs. The rallye also had the same g60 engine, along with it's yummy AWD sytem.the g40 afaik only came in the Polo.Brandon, the weather's been nice, why no pics?Oh, and people, buy this man's extra head.-d.

My memory stick on my digital camera is full and I haven't had time to upload them to the PC to make room for new pics. I'll get around to it soon. Pics will come this week.
