Hey guys,

A buddy and I were talking the other day and Treffen came up...we noticed the Treffen site hasn't been updated for this year. Is the show happening this year? I remember hearing something along the lines of..."smaller" show this year...but I haven't seen anything posted yet and it's almost June..just wondering if dates are set or if it's just not happening this year. If someone has some insight it would be greatly appreciated.

Did i miss something somewhere? 53 views, 6 days, and no response? I know this forum is pretty slow, but it isn't that slow..lol.

I read the state of affairs that Nick posted a while ago..but that didn't talk about any dates or anything of that sort..so, is CVO doing Treffen this year or will it be missed? Not going to lie, as much as there is plenty of criticism about this event, it's always been the "go to" show for myself and many others out there.

Hope to hear some good news soon..

Unfortunately due to the issues mentioned in the State of Affairs thread there will not be a Treffen 17.

Wow. Thats really disappointing. I didn't realize CVO was in that kind of disarray otherwise i might have come on a little sooner to see if I could do something to help (at least with Treffen). Very sad to hear this news.

So - I am starting to think about a Treffen 17 for 2014.

I have a lot on my plate with the race car projects, and some career development stuff, but I think it would be cool to put together a low key, grassroots style event.

Would that bother or offend anyone? If no, I'm going to start scouting a bit for some locations that will be cheap or free enough to make this work.

Of course there is a potential that the thing ends up being VERY different than it was in the past too.

Thoughts/feedback?

I agree with Chris.
We as members need to start planning.

Chris, Ive been thinking the same thing. Let's get back to our roots and figure out a way to make this happen. I think one of the problems that we faced in the past is people pushing for a bigger and better show along the lines of H2O or some of the other big shows. I know that was never the intention when CVO started Treffen years ago.

I'm in!

OK. Well lets start at the beginning. We need to find a location. It needs to be cheap and/or free, and needs to be large enough, just in case a whole bunch of people show up. Ideally it would be outdoors, and more park than parking lot in atmosphere.

If we can find something in the off season that might work, then we can talk about what the event would really consist of.

Just a quick bit of outside the box thinking. What would folks think about doing this at a race track like Blackhawk Farms on a club race weekend, so that there is some other stuff going on that we don't have to organize/officiate? Could even allow folks to camp overnight if they wanted to.

I like the idea of having it at some place other than a parking lot, although Blackhawk Farms is pretty far away from just about everything. What about Autobahn CC in Joliet?

If we decide that a parking lot would work, at least to get things started again, NIVA just hosted a show at Anderson VW in Crystal Lake, I know that a few of us have attended that show and Karl O. entered his R in the show at least once that I know of. The other thing that I like about this is that Anderson is building a new store on Rt14, plenty of food options and there is a nice park just down the street.

Racing facility would be great, how about Greatlakes dragaway?
Bugfest has been held there for a long time and was held there this year.
