Thoughts on FWD b5 Audi anyone?

Post by 2012GolfR » Sat Nov 17, 2012 9:33 am

We always liked the sport cloth and one popped up for sale in Arizona (where we will be later today) and are toying with the idea of getting it for a winter car so my R can sit in storage in winter while I drive this and then we can sell it in spring.

Our concern is resale value come March or April because it is FWD instead of quattro...

Thoughts anyone?

Guess it all depends how much you're paying for it and what you're looking to resell it for. Hard to tell who would buy it. Might be a regular joe schmoe at that point. If its low mileage and well maintained easier to sell

No!!!!!!!! Its not a winter without quattro. I wouldn't get it, if anything wait it out and find a quattro.

passed on it guys..

it needed way too much work for the $3750 asking price including needing a new clutch and steering rack (on top of needing suspension, motor mounts and more!)

we got this instead (not a winter car but fun anyway)

our 1st 240sx (still almost 100% stock -- even the exhaust!!!) <-- only the radio and speakers are aftermarket on this car!

5spd of course... 1995 SE

mileage on it is decent too!

and the interior is stock (no ricer cut down shifter or lighted shifter knob here!)

and here are some underside pics just for fun (those in rust belt will appreciate this)

Drift king special good luck trying to get top dollar for it here... Friend of mine had trouble selling his from Socal with 75k, and a 98 LE on top of that.

i don't know what your friend had into it, what he wanted for it (or got for it) or if it was stock but I've already had 4 offers I turned down because I'm not even trying to sell it so I don't believe resale will be much of a problem once we have had our fun with it (it took about 8 months to sell our former B5 Audi though)

not trying to sell the 240 and happy we didn't get the $3750 Audi that we would have been lucky to sell for $3750 after putting $2000 more into it (no thank you, learned our lesson on the b5 fix-it up experience!)

That is nice 240 for sure, just needs flat blk paint, welded diff and couple of stuffed animals hanging off the rear bumper and I'm sure you can get like 7.5k for it.

One day when I grow up I want to go driffting..... Drift Or Die! Lol

lol. the only way this car will become a 'drift' car is if it after our ownership (same thing with the rattle can flat black paint)

Even when I was 19, I didn't want a flat black rattle can fart can muffler RWD car!
