New to CVO - Mk4 Golf 8v Turbo

Post by Turbogolf8v » Sun Jan 01, 2012 11:13 pm

Hi, my names Oliver and I have a 2000 VW Golf GLS 5-speed, which was supposed to be a boring economic daily driver... and that's how it started all of 8 months ago:

Here it is the night I got it, all boring, economic and stock...

Then about 2 months ago, I had a friend who was selling a turbo.... t3/t4 50 trim. I bought it off him fairly cheaply and decided it was time to build the car ready for boost!

Right now I do not have a tune on the car, it is running the stock ECU with a bigger (3 inch) mass air flow sensor from a mk4 vr6 and a 4 bar fuel pressure regulator from an AEB Passat. It runs well but is only set on low boost (spike around 10psi, cruise around 7 or 8psi) and the air fuel ratios are fine according to my wideband. The car is built for more boost, but the only reason I got the upgraded parts that I have is because I got great deals on them (that's why I haven't upgraded the pistons yet)

I'm fine running low boost for now until I can afford to beef the motor up a little more and get a good tune/fueling solution. Which will happen after I spend some money making it look a little better haha.

Current Mod List:
> Garrett To4E T3/T4 turbo (50 trim)
> Custom 3 inch downpipe with (magnaflow high flow cat)
> I.E. Rods
> ARP Head studs
> 3 inch VR6 maf housing
> Generic front mount IC w/ custom charge pipe
> Magnaflow exhaust
> White painted OEM wheels
> Bilstien Shocks + H&R Lowering Springs (coilovers coming soon)

Here's a few pics of it from the past couple of days:

I really like it when peeps go a little different route than the usual, don't see a lot of 2.slows running on turbos arond here!

Lol.... If I will be spending any $$$$ on a car it will be on the VR buddy.
The 8v just needs to get me thru winter and then it's getting retired.

Ha ha, my Golf has over 160k now and still pulls strong. Don't know what it is about it because I beat on it everyday and the way things are going with the VR it looks like I will be autoXing the foe doe this year again. I got some different wheels for it so the snowflakes are the only thing that are being retired....

The Jetta just needs so much work in the suspension dept. after all those years of racing, I'm collecting parts before I starting working on it.
It already received new control arm bushings and front sway bar links and it still needs new suspension, strut bearings/bushings, front hub bearings both sides and probably some other things.....
