Knowing what year/make/model car you have with what engine, along with your budget and goals, would be a good start.

yea 01 Gti Vr6 12v
and all i want for right now is to boost without doin internal engine work for now because im building a 24v for more power, i wanted to do the 3.6L 24v build and boost that but i still cant find a block
i also got a turbo off a 2004 passat 1.8t that i can rebuild but i dont know if its worth it it looks too small and i heard i might have to get a custom made manifold for it.

K03 won't do anything for a VR
Kinetics makes a good 12v kit

Honestly I would sell the car and buy a used MKV.... by the time you are all done and over with the 12V turbo the right way you could buy a newer car. IMHO, YMMV .02
BUT if you want a turbo VR your have to do it all yourself. Either way you look at it a proper turbo kit with a tune will cost you 3K at least.

honestly yes the VR sound is awesome, but at the same time it costs a lot of cash to get the car turboed.... and OEM turbo car > aftermarket solution. Have you driven a 2.0T ? They can be made into a fun lil car for under 1k in go fast mods. I'm not talking stage 2+ here but cheap catless DP with a ECU tune to get rid of the MIL, intake, DV setup, catch can or PCV fix and the car will be a hoot to drive.
DSG + turbo is a match in heaven, you do not loose boost on upshifts and with a good DSG tune the tranny can shift uber fast. DSG will be faster than a manual and you don't have to worry bout having to buy a super expensive clutch after you get wild with upgrades.
To put things into perspective for a MKVI clutch done right you will need to spend 1K on a clutch/flywheel combo PLUS labor. DSG car can get a 300 dollar tune that will up the torque limits of the tranny, give you programable launch control, silly fast shifts.
I have ALWAYS been a manual car fan, but in a GTi the DSG makes a VERY good argument for itself

A VR is still a VR at the end of the day though. I miss my Mk3 VR to this day and it's been almost 6 years lol.
A VRT? It's a rush when executed properly.
