Hi all,

I've recently entered the world that is Volkswagen. Leaving behind my first stick, an '86 Accord.
Its a 1988 Scirocco 16v that has just broken 65k. I'd to get into track/rally racing slowly, ultimately have a fun daily driver.

Came with some goodies, H&R coilovers, VW stamped BBS rims, neuspeed upper strutbar.
The clutch needs replacing.
I put in the schroth 3 pt harness not long ago.
Future plans: TT/borla exhaust,LSD, enjoy the road!

And some pics!

Thanks all, I'm looking for some snow tires/ spare set of rims for the approaching winter. I know lots store their cars especially in these parts, but its my daily and I like to drive, in all conditions. Also trying to track down a set of spanner wrenches for my h&r's id like it jacked up 0.5-1" depending, some mud flaps would be nice too

I hate how messy the engine bay is,
If anyone's looking for a working A/C i'd like to take it out, also have 2 cans of R12
And possibly the radiator fan!

What size spanner wrench would you be looking for, might be able to help you out. And I think on craigslist you'll be able to find a second set for the winter quite cheap too!

Nice looking car! Sounds like it's nicely modded as well. I've always liked the looks of BBS RAs on Sciroccos. I have an '88 as well, mine just rolled over 150,000 (still only 6250 miles/year), here are a few photos of when I got it, and how it sits now.

Love the car bronson, I'm hoping to get into autox next year.

Just got quoted for a clutch job, $800 for labor  Anyone know a decent place, or better yet have the know-how themselves? There's delicious craft beer and major friend points to be attained!

I dropped my transmission 2 times last year, and I need to swap in another one before spring (I got through a lot of transmissions). Once you do 2 or 3 you get REALLY good at them.
Do you have a Bentley manual for your car? It's not really that hard, everything can be done with (mostly) basic hand tools and jack stands.
Did the $800 include parts? That seems high if it's just labor only, a complete swap should only take 4-6 hours if they know what they're doing.
FWIW, I took out my A/C and power steering, really cleaned up the engine bay.

Yep I have the clutch and the car came with a bently too. The guy's got a VW shop thats supposedly been there 20+ years. He might come in handy for some other things but yeah that price was a real shocker.
Might have to just get the tools I need and do it this winter, just might take a couple days haha

Today I replaced the bottom starter bolt. I drove to and from Mokena twice yesterday and and it took a while to start up the second time out, I thought maybe it was the cold but when I tried this morning all I heard was the starter spinning. I didn't tighten it enough when I replaced the front engine mount. Luckily I got a new bolt and was off today so i'm glad this fix was only $1 :greedy: .
