Hi guys... 5months ago I picked up a Jetta TDI Cup...

I've done a Malone Stage2 Engine/DSG Tune, DPF,EGR,Cat Delete made my own Cold air intake and engine cover smooth.

Not planning on a bunch more mods till next year. It' just my daily driver and It's fun and get's FANTASTIC MPG. One of my favorite cars so far.

My wife drove it to a class each monday through the summer and liked it so much that she had me sell her 2006 TrailBlazer SS and get another
Jetta TDI. She went from 12.4mpg to 39.7 in town!
She loves it!
I live about a hour or so from Chicago.. Hope to make it to some events and gatherings next spring!
Take care,
Scott

All the letters are painted on.. not stickers!

Some of my other car's.

Previous Buick V6 250cid with TH400 Transmission and 9" Ford rear with 3:25 gear.
Been 10.32@133mph on pump gas though the mufflers on a drag radial.

Now am installing a 427LSX (RHS Block) Rossler 4L80E trans and Fab 9 Rear and a 98mm turbo
The turbo supports 1950hp. Should be a fun Drag Week this coming year!

Thanks.... :)

I'd like to drive a 6spd TDI ! My wife voted out the 6spd stick... I do like the DSG but normally I like rolling through the gears when I drive somthing Daily.

I'm having Victor's car down here for a BUNCH of work before next One Lap.... His car's going to be real nasty!
Talked to Malone about how the DSG will act with a bunch more power and he said he's never seen or heard of one breaking.. or even slipping! He's been over 650Ftlbs of torque with it and nada.
Gives me hope for making good dependable Power with it.
Talk to you soon... and keep me posted somehow on up coming events I'd sure like to come up.
Thanks!
Scott

Wow that is top notch on the cold air intake!! I'm assuming that it's all high heat paint to resist the temps and whatever gets on it.

Curious to know what exhaust did you go with, PDE or Rawtek or custom?

What I did there is the DPF is RIGHT off the turbo and i mean smack in back of the sucker...
So I cut the V band flange off the DPF.... Made my own 2.25" downpipe to the stock Flex and mount.

Then just past the flex and mount there were two Cat's... one before the exhaust valve and one after.
I put 2.5" from just past the flex/mount to valve (flapper removed) and then continued past there to connect to the stock exhaust.
I think I had like 3hrs in fabricating the downpipe and cat removal pipes....
I was a bit worried about it being louder.. but it's not at all inside the car... it sounds like turbo out the exhaust now...
With the Malone tune there is no re-gen cycle... so I mostly run B20 and I can run Rotella T6 for oil now.
Love this little car :)

I can't talk about this stuff on the TDI club fourms.. .they would ban me.

That's the one thing that I hate about that forum....can't talk about none of the fun stuff haha.

Hmm that's quite the frankenstein of an exhaust you fabbed up there. Any reason for the smaller diameter of the piping for the DP? Seems like PDE and Rawtek are 2.75" for their piping and then going to a 3.0" exhaust all the way back.

So you removed all the cats and only kept the stock muffler?

The actual size of the turbo outlet is 2.25.... I just kept it the same. Then it go's to 2.5" after the flex pipe and mount...

I know it sounds weird the way I described it but it looks really nice.

In the picture above I have a 5" downpipe on the Camaro... I don't think out little 2.0's quite need that stack Lol.

I could do any size downpipe and exhaust.. I just chose to keep it simple and remove what was there while keeping the same size exhaust and removing the junk in the way.
So yep.. all that's left is the stock muffler/resonator out back.
You just hear turbo sound back there but interior noise didn't raise at all... pretty cool.

The CAI sounds sweet.. hear the turbo now.. but at cruse speeds it's silent.. Just what I wanted.
I can duplicate any of this stuff if your interested... pretty cheap too :)
Take care,
Scott~

Hmm that sounds very intriguing haha!

Have you read up on the Turbo Resonance Dampener Removal? I know Nuespeed just made a aftermarket one?

I wonder how that couple with an intake and a full exhaust would work. I think someone posted a dyno and got around 10HP out of it in the top end.

What town are you from, you mentioned an hour south of Chicago.

I'm here in Elkhart Indiana....

No I've not seen that write up... Have a link by chance?

The guy's on the TDI club don't think my CAI makes any difference power wise...

It's sure less clutter in the engine bay and easy to remove/install. and sounds great.

I guess I just like making stuff :)

Talk to you soon,
Scott~

It wasn't me.... as I do all my own stuff....

I need to go make a video of the exhaust and the CAI sounds when driving... It sure is neat. It's somewhat nice today.. I might just make a YouTube Video real quick.

I also do Tail light tinting for any vehicle... (Basecoat/Clearcoat) not spray can. The effect is great.
Takes the red out and does not limit light output... It's sweet.
Also paint the shifter bezel for the inside of our cars. I have a core here so I paint it and send it to you... you send your stock one back for the next guy... already done several... I love mine (Pic below)

Well so much for getting the link uploaded, seems the GolfMK6 forums is down today. As soon as they're back up I'll get you more info on that turbo dampener.

I noticed u did the dsg tune too

I am on the fence whether to have it done

How do you like it and is it worth it?

Granted I am not talking from experience, but from many threads and posts I've heard that it does a lot and makes a world of a difference.

I know in the TDi world that it seems the engine and trans are finally synced together.

For the GTi's I believe it makes it a more engaging type of ride and feel. Less hesitations, seems to make it more fluid as well.

Just my .02

Wow this looks like a great build.

I like that you did all your own fabrication - looks great - would love to see it in person.

The downpipe diameter, man that is a mean discussion on a lot of forums. There is a point of diminishing return so having it too large can be a bad thing from what I understand.

I am interested seeing TDI modifications - and I do really like the DSG and find myself driving manual so long as I'm not sitting in traffic, makes a little more "engaging" driving experience ;)

Glad to see another diesel here! I need some intercooler pipes and an intake fabbed up on my TDi as the Stocker is whistling and leaking really bad, lately my VNT has been freezing up a bit as I was trying to get max mpg and haven't boosted at all really. So when I got on it the turbo spiked to 36psi and held there while I heard a loud hiss out the cooler. Well turbo has been cleaned up after and I've done some hard runs from 60-140 to get the EGT nice and high to burn off all the soot from the vanes..... But the intercooler is leaking more than ever now. BTW its a old Passat TDi and bumper comes off in minutes especially now after the car has been just completely apart for a complete re spray.

That's exactly right.. I would say it's smoother on downshifts and upshifts. Also lowers the RPM at WOT for shifts as there's no power above like 5000rpm it just makes noise and go's nowhere. It aslo raises the Ft/Lb toruqe limit to 400ft/lbs so the engine can fully go above 360... With out it raised the two fight each other and limits power.
I had mine done down at Schneid diesel in Terre Haute. He said he'd done a TDI just before mine with no DSG and it felt flat compaired to mine.
I think I've already got about 10,000mi on this tune.

I can make pipes or intercooler pipes ect for anyone... I'm not that far from you guys.... :bananadance:

Have a good one!
Scott~
