So my buddy went to 1/4mile track @ Union Grove Wi to run against one of co-workers who has a Corvette(one of new ones) not sure what is done to it and beat him with his 05 STI.

Damain's STI has D/P with Exhaust, intake and a tune on it and some coilovers. He ran 12.3

Stock clutch with almost 60k on it and was dumping this thing from 7g's

Some of you guys know Damian because he came out to the Auto-x's in the past and has been to Mobile One.

Why is that funny? There was a EVO with after market TURBO and Damian was able to beat him off the line by like 3 cars due to him launching the car from almost red line, the EVO would pull up on him but never out ran the STI. I don't drag race but had a chance to run a tuned WRX and the owner told me to just rev it up all the way and dump it! Ended up runing 13.6 in it. The car has a FMIC tune D/P exhaust intake.

when I had my 02 WRX I would the the same at the drag strip rev it to 6500 and just dump the cluctch car would just hunker down and take off. stock 02 wrx best time was 14.6. you need to have it up that high to keep the turbo spooled up when you dump the clutch or it will just bogg down.

Drivetrain/clutches can handle that for a little while...But not for long. What was the original point of this thread again?

I wanted to see what people might say about a lightly tuned STI with a driver that has never been to a 1/4mile track putting down a low 12 sec run. Let's see what that monster Jetta will do J! Should be in the 10's right?

Was he on 93 octane? If so, those are great numbers. I guess I'm being challenged hehe no problem, I'll post my slips up soon. According to the internet his car with those mods (again depending on what fuel) should be putting out a little less than my setup, and I belive I am lighter as well. What tires also. I'm watching this thread...Also with threads like this, it is customary to post the slip.

Yes, 93 octane. Tires are something that Goodyear makes. I will drop off the time slip for you after we talk tomorrow about my VR bacuse we will need to drop it off when you have time and Damian will come with me. Anyway, please call me tomorrow so we can talk.
