Ran across something somewhat interesting looking at these two R&T Data Panels:

(yes I look through old random articles in my spare time, its a habit)

2004 R32 Test Weight = 3510 lb
2004 R32 Weight Dist % = 61/39

2007 GTI Test Weight = 3420 lb
2007 GTI Weight Dist % = 61/39

Hmmmmmmmmm, so much for "nose-heavy" :hmmm:

Very interesting. It still amazes me how much lighter MkIV R32's are compared to MkV R32's. By chance, do you have the article for the MkV R32?

Ask and ye shall receive

http://www.roadandtrack.com/tests/updat ... swagen-r32

Quote:
Volkswagen R32

Curb weight 3720 lb
Engine 3.2-liter V-6
Transmission 6-sp DSG
Horsepower, bhp @ rpm 250 @ 6300
Torque, lb-ft @ rpm 236 @ 2500–3000
0–60 mph 6.0 sec
0–100 mph 16.3 sec
0–1320 ft (1/4 mile) 14.6 sec @ 95.0 mph
Top speed 130 mph*
Braking, 60–0 mph 134 ft
Braking, 80–0 mph 237 ft
Lateral accel (200-ft skidpad) 0.85g
Speed thru 700-ft slalom 65.9 mph
Our mileage, EPA city/highway 18.2, 18/23 mpg

Two things jump out at me...

1. 3720 lb ?!?!?!

2. All acceleration fogures are slower than the MkIV......not that surprising I guess

any chance for one of these for the MKV GTI? and not so sure about those numbers for the MKV R32... i've seen a lot of slips posted for low 14s 1/4 mile on a completely stock R.
