Didn't the early Horizon's and Omni's have German engines in them, possible VW engines? I believe so.

IIRC, Chrysler used VW 1.7l blocks in the Horizon/Omni/etc. Heads, intakes, fuel delivery, etc, were different (Chrysler carbureted their cars).
